Source Channeler
Created by AstralFire

Important Note: This class is currently under reconstruction as a template. It is extremely broken, and use of it as a PC or enemy class is quite ill-advised. It is best used as a story NPC.

"He channels potentially catastrophic amounts of divine source energy to, of all things,
SOLVE A FUCKING MATH PROBLEM!" - Naisa

Incompetents and imbeciles oft-find themselves thrust into positions of glory. They can do one of two things there - succeed beyond all belief and hope, or fail miserably as expected. But if there's anything they're incompetent about, it's doing what's expected of them. Or is it?

Source Channelers (SoC) focus a power beyond all earthly knowledge. Not quite psychic, not quite arcane, not quite divine, their ability to tap into the amazing and all-powerful Source - without even realizing what they've done - makes them more than a force to be reckoned with when they manage enough conscious thought to fight. Yet, they're not as moronic as they seem; an odd sort of wisdom, the type that comes with insanity, is inherent to them. This wisdom is something most of their companions never see or even have an inkling of its existence, yet it is the origin of their powers. By manifesting thought on a level beyond human comprehension, they create much more than a paradigm shift. As they channel more and more Source Energy, Source Channelers seek to find balance in their life - they will eventually progress to either a being of chaos or of law.

Class Features: All of the following are class features for the Source Channeler prestige class:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Source Channelers neither gain nor lose any proficiencies.

Stage 2 (Su): The Source Channeler has somehow tapped into his true, hidden potential. As a full-round action, he may go to his "next level" however many times a week as listed on the chart. This ability may change his appearance and clothes in minor ways while utilizing it, and an energy field of the player's choice in color surrounds and illuminates him as the spell Light. The exact appearance he gains in Stage 2, and the color of the energy field, remain permanent after the first time they are chosen. Stage 2 lasts for 5 rounds per class level. This form increases his Int score by ((10-Int Score)*3) for the duration of the form, his Wis score raises by 2, and gives him a +3 insight bonus to AC. It also grants the following abilities:

Jump: The Source Channeler gets the effects of the Jump spell, as cast by a sorcerer of his class level.
Inertial Armor: The Source Channeler is under the effects of the Inertial Armor power while in stage 2 form, with a manifestation aura the color of his energy aura.

While the character is Stage 2, he is neutral along the chaos-law continuum due to the holistic nature of the form. The Channeler may revert as a free-action any time before the ability runs out of power. After reverting in this manner, the player experiences a splitting headache. Treat the Channeler as being fatigued for the next hour. If the player exhausts all his power, he may expend up an additional use of his Stage 2 power per week to continue, or revert as normal if he can transform again in the next week. If he has no more Source energy to channel, he reverts to Stage 0 instead of Stage 1. While Stage 0, he has no willingness to fight or flee; he is effectively brain-dead, and reacts only with the greatest prodding. This state lasts for 24 hours after reversion, then the Source Channeler returns to Stage 1.

Empty Mind (Ex): While not in Stage 2 or higher form, the Source Channeler is immune to all mind-reading spells due to the fact that he has no mind to be read. Conversely, he automatically fails all his throws to resist a memory-affecting spell, because he's a gullible git.

Ascended Stage 2 (Su): From now on, when the Source Channeler utilizes his Stage 2 form, his run speed doubles, and his effective base attack bonus and reflex saves from this class are equal to those of a Rogue of equal level as his class level. Changing into stage 2 requires only a standard action instead of a full-round action now. After dropping out of the form, he no longer experiences the debilitating headache.

Stage 3 (Su): Going beyond all human reasoning, the Source Channeler is an awesome being to behold. (Full-round action to metamorphosis.) The changes in Stage 3 are much more dramatic than in Stage 2, and leeches far more source energy than normal; they can only maintain this form for 3 rounds per class level. It gains all the abilities of the Stage 2 form (with a medium change in appearance and clothing), an additional +2 insight bonus to AC, as well as:

Fly: The Source Channeler is under the effects of the Fly spell for the duration of the form.
Inhuman Mind: The Source Channeler's Int score is raised by ((10-Int Score)*5) while he is Stage 3, and his Wis score raises by 4.
Source Power: The Source Channeler is under the effects of the Divine Power spell as cast by a cleric of his class level for the duration of the form.
Energy Bolts: The Source Channeler can create a single Energy Bolt (the color of his aura) with a range of 400 feet as a free action at will. These Energy Bolts spring from his empty hand and it takes a standard action to fire a single bolt. (Ranged Touch Attack against the target.) A single Force Bolt does 1d6 Force Damage per 2 class levels (rounded down.) These bolts can be released as a touch attack or unarmed strike as well, but only one bolt may be fired per round.

While stage 3, the Channeler becomes either Any Chaotic or Any Lawful (Chaotic if they were Lawful in their base alignment; the reverse is true as well.) They live to either find laws for Chaos, describing everything in equations or logic or find the Chaos inherent in order. The Channeler may revert to stage 2 or 1 as a free-action any time before the ability runs out of power. After reverting in this manner, the player is worn out and in complete mental agony. Treat the Channeler as being fatigued until he can obtain 8 hours of rest or more. If the player exhausts all his power, he may expend up an additional use of his Stage 3 power per week to continue, or revert as normal if he can transform again in the next week.

Stage 3 uses per week can be transferred on a one to one basis to Stage 2 uses per week, but not the other way around.

Sending (Su): As a Supernatural ability, the Channeler can use the Sending spell at will as a free action once per turn. This is cast as a 10th level sorcerer and is a result of his ability to manipulate kinetic energy and brainwaves.

Augury (Sp): The Channeler extends his incredible logical - or chaotic - knowledge in order to gain amazing insight on even future events. He can cast Augury as the spell cast by a 10th level cleric three times per day, without any material components or foci.

Ascended Stage 3 (Su): The Channeler is at the peak of his source-channeling powers. When he turns into Stage 3, treat him as an Outsider of either Chaotic or Lawful subtype (whichever fits his Stage 3 alignment). This grants him Damage Reduction 20/+1 as well. He is now able to fly as the Psionic Power Improved Fly for the duration of the Stage 3 form, and the Stage 3 form is now capable of using a quickened Dimension Door at will as cast by a 20th level sorcerer. However, the Stage 3 form now pushes him to the limits of mortal comprehension - no matter how he changes back, after reversion from the Stage 3 form, his Health immediately drops to 0, and he is fatigued until he is able to rest for three full days.
